Japanese: Working knowledge of the language and culture is an asset but not obligatory.

Key attributes:
Experience in teaching Cambridge international school is a must at Secondary 1 or advanced level is desirable. Deep passion about getting the best from young people with complex needs;

Teach the subjects: Robotics, Mathematics and Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics etc.) and Computers, such that it builds and develops valuable life and communication skills while achieving all the academic goals;

Utilizing modern technology in the classroom (e.g. SMARTBoard, MS Office package) is an advantage.

Description of Role:
The STEM teacher is in charge of both Theoretical and Practical Laboratory work. LAIS is officially certified by Cambridge International Examinations through IGCSE, A levels, etc. The key challenge is to plan the curriculum such that it best matches the need for both theory and practical approach to science. This position necessitates the continuous curriculum development, lesson planning and implementation. The candidate will monitor individual learning plans, while delivering outstanding academic standards, meeting the rigorous standards of quality and compliance and, ensuring absolute safety in practice. Teachers must create and provide teaching plans to Administration; provide feedback on teaching at regular intervals.

The candidate will ideally possess higher qualifications; will know how to place quality outcomes in all the teaching initiatives at LAIS. The candidate must be able to understand the importance of providing flexible and personalized packages and then customize it to student’s individual needs. The Instructor has to provide feedback for the students and create a working partnership with teachers, parents and the stakeholders.

Note: LAIS follows it's own calendar but in essence, two weeks off in summer, 10 days off in Spring and about the same in Winter - all of which are paid. The annual salary is paid in 12 monthly payments and no bonus payments. School work starts at 8:30 AM and ends at 5:00 PM on three days a week and at 6:30 PM on two days a week. A school work day includes a lunch break between 12:05 till 1PM. All applicants must pass our special interview process which requires candidates to actually teach the subject at the school for at least two consecutive days (without pay). The first six months will be treated as the probationary period. The school has students ranging from 1.5 year olds to 17+ years old.

Our business and focus is education, but LAIS is established as a Kabushiki Kaisya (Limited Stock Company) and as such the rules governing Kabushiki Kaisya shall apply.
