Berlitz Japan has openings to teach at a private Junior High School in Nara for the 2018/2019 school year.
The following positions are available:
An English instructor
A Physical Education (P.E.) instructor
A Music instructor
Compensation:
This is a Full-Time Instructor contract (38-hrs per week) position that pays ¥275,000 per month for working 38 hours per week (including lunch break), plus additional guaranteed paid worktime (¥5,970 per week for 2 additional hours per week)
Fringe benefits include paid vacation, paid sick days, paid personal days, commutation costs, social insurance and more.
Actual classroom teaching time will average 16 ~ 20 classes (50-min) per week with remaining time spent planning lessons, attending meetings, participating in school activities and doing administrative work.
Please note this is NOT an ALT position.
Qualification Requirements:
We are looking for instructors who:
*are native English speakers
*have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
*have experience teaching at Japanese junior high schools
*are already residing in the Kansai area
*have a current valid visa that permits work in Japan
*can commit to the entire 2018/2019 school year (March 18, 2018 to March 17, 2019)
*can communicate using at least basic-level Japanese (higher proficiency level preferred)
*can prepare a 10-min demonstration lesson for the interview (dependent upon the position they are applying for e.g. an English lesson for the English instructor position, a Music lesson for the Music instructor position, etc.)
*are flexible, dynamic, mature and professional
*are responsive to constructive criticism
*are able to accept responsibility and work well with others
*are culturally sensitive and have excellent organizational and communication skills
*have good computer skills
*are able to operate both independently as well as with others.
Key Tasks and Activities:
*Fully implement classes in accordance with the English, Physical Education or Music Curriculum.
*Plan and deliver lessons that meet the needs of all students in the class.
*Keep accurate records of attendance and student progress.
*Participation in and planning of some club activities in the school.
*Participation in school events (e.g. school festivals, opening ceremony, Open School days)
*Monitor and assess own performance and take a proactive approach to professional development.
*Communicate and collaborate with other departmental teachers.
*Help and support with other Berlitz work-related activities.
Visa/Residence Requirements:
Only domestic applications from those already residing in the Kansai area and available for in-person interviews will be considered.
Applications from outside Japan will NOT be considered.
The deadline for applications is 6:00pm, Monday, January 22nd, 2018. Interviews will be held at our West Japan Regional Office in Namba, Osaka at the end of January/beginning of February, 2018.
