Description

The Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education (TBoE) formally contracted a consortium of five private-sector entities to manage and operate a large-scale experience-oriented English-education facility aiming to nurture global citizens. The TBoE also decided to name the facility — “TOKYO GLOBAL GATEWAY,” dubbed “TGG.”

One of the five private-sector, The English Language Education Council (ELEC) is now seeking full-time instructors, who can start working for TOKYO GLOBAL GATEWAY from April 2018.

【Position】
Full-Time Instructor
The contract is for one year and can be extended by mutual agreement four times for a maximum of five years.

【Job Description】
The main users of this facility will range in ages from elementary school children to senior high school students. The facility expects to provide visiting students with various programs, including simulated experiences speaking English in daily life situations overseas in such places as airports and restaurants. There will also be programs dealing with science and technology, business, international contribution and international exchange, in which students discuss in English how to work out solutions or new ideas through group work.

The English Instructors
・Will provide instruction in the various weekday, holiday, and overnight TGG programs for English and other courses.
・Will provide direction in roleplaying scenarios for daily conversation
・Will provide guidance in *CLIL classes (giving instruction in English regarding a variety of courses and skillsets)
・Will engage in program improvement, and creation of learning materials and manuals
・Will train, lead, and manage part-time instructors
・Will engage in other duties related to the above
・Will have additional opportunities for teaching with skills/knowledge of dancing, cooking, programming, and Japanese tea ceremony.

*CLIL is an abbreviation for Content and Language Integrated Learning. It is a way of teaching where subject content - for example,cooking,science or physical education – is taught in another language (often English).
CLIL is a dual-focused educational approach in which an additional language is used for the learning and teaching of both content and language.

【Requirements】
・Appropriate working visa. *Visa sponsorship is not available.
・More than 2 years of teaching experience in the field of English education is preferred.
・CELTA, CertTESOL or other English Language teaching certifications are preferred
・Basic Japanese conversation skills are preferred.

【Working Hours】
Shift-based, 8:00-21:00 Monday-Sunday
8 hours a day including 60 min. break
5 working days per week (including weekends and national holidays).
Paid holidays, year-end vacation, and special paid leave provided

【Salary】
300,000-320,000 yen/month depending on experience 

【Location】
Yurikamome Line Telecom Center Station plus a 2 minute walk
Odaiba, Tokyo (2-4-32 Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo)
