Job Description:

We are looking for ambitious new manga editors, to join our team of manga professionals based in Tokyo.
We are launching programs aiming to welcome manga creators from all over the world, aiding them create new manga titles. The applicant will be managing those new talents, under supervision of experienced editors.
This exciting position of “manga editor” is rarely open to applicants from outside of Japan providing a unique opportunity. We have teams of experienced editors with long list of hit titles to guide and train you for your new challenge.


Role Responsibility :

The manga editors will aid and assist manga creative professionals, ensuring output is of high quality and delivered on schedule for publication every time.
You will be managing Manga creators from around the world, via online communication such as SNS and video-chat apps.
You will also be acting on the creators’ behalf, to promote new contents within sales channels ranging from retailing premises to online SNS.
Content creation advice, will be provided by experienced editors in Japanese, which you will be translating at the beginning.

As you learn more about the creative process, you will gain the responsibility of making your own judgements under supervision.


The Ideal Candidate :

You have general understanding of how the entertainment industry works, and have a passion to learn and adapt to the unique industry practice of professional Manga creation. This will include experience on pre-production process such as organising and communicating in depth about new ideas, right through to preparing the sales pitches for the completed works.
You have love for not only manga, but for entertainment in general, with the ability to apply bold new ideas into logically constructed production proposal. You are always curious, and love to get involved with new trends, analysing and enjoying them in depth.
You are confident but not stubborn, more flex, and persevering. You are always ready to resiliently keep on discussing until a story is ready for enjoyment of the audience. You do things not to impress, but to entertain others for their enjoyment.
You feel this statement is a feasible future: “Our long term goal is to replicate the success of manga industry in Japan, in several markets outside of Japan with many local talents producing manga for the local people to enjoy. There will be economically sustainable industry supporting the readers as well as the creators, and the manga editors will be the key catalyst that will make this happen”.

Skills :

Excellent written/spoken English, ideally having experience in publishing field in English speaking market.
 Japanese language skill highly desirable.
