Vantage Shanghai: Media Sales Director

The Aquaspace Group (www.aquaspacegroup.com) is a fast-growing international property and luxury lifestyle company based in the Lujiazui financial district of Shanghai. Our core business lies in high-end property investment and property management services, but we are also involved in media, travel, interior design and entertainment.

Aquaspace Media & Advertising Co. Ltd (Aqua Media) is a media company based in Shanghai. We are looking to establish a media platform in China with a reputation for new and thought-provoking perspective and content, starting with Vantage Shanghai magazine.

Vantage Shanghai (www.vantageshanghai.com) is a bi-monthly bilingual magazine in Shanghai that is focused on bringing the most original, thought provoking and inspiring ideas in culture, design, art, travel, luxury and lifestyle to our readers. From ground-breaking architecture to emerging artists, from daredevil adventures to philosophical debates, Vantage Shanghai gives readers the chance to enjoy intellectual luxuries in life and indulge their minds.

The Vantage Shanghai team is close-knit, young and dynamic. The successful candidate will enjoy facing new challenges, be motivated to succeed beyond expectations. We are looking for a person who is willing to share their knowledge and help to train and develop a talented young sales team.

Responsibilities
1. Lead the Advertising Sales strategy at Vantage Shanghai
- Work with the Managing Director of Aqua Media to set sales targets by issue
- Develop sales strategy for Vantage Shanghai, including framework to prioritise industry & prospective clients, timeline to develop client relationship, packaging of advertising opportunities, including online, and analysis of latest competitive landscape
- Develop sales pitch for Vantage Shanghai, including our positioning in the competitive landscape, our unique value proposition, our advertising packages and rate cards
- Define clear processes for working with other functions, including Finance, Legal and Editorial
2. Manage the Advertising Sales team at Vantage Shanghai
- Set individual sales target appropriate to each member of the sales team
- Manage and track individual performance and conduct regular reviews to provide feedback
- Coach the team and provide appropriate training in sales technique

3. Meet and exceed target for Sales function
- Deliver agreed sales target both as an individual and as a sales function
- Track ongoing sales performance vs. target, esp. overall advertising revenue, cash maximisation and page yield
- Provide regular sales performance reports to Aqua Media management team

4. Represent Vantage Shanghai and Aqua Media to the market
- Develop and extend network amongst our target client base
- Work with Marketing team to develop events aimed at building and cementing relationship with clients and reputation of Vantage Shanghai in the market
- Be ambassador for Vantage Shanghai & Aqua Media and demonstrate our company values through all interactions

Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in advertising sales, preferably for lifestyle magazines; some experience in online advertising is preferred
- Demonstrable success in acquiring and growing client accounts
- Extensive network with accounts in luxury goods (incl. accessories), lifestyle products (e.g. furniture, electronics), food & beverage or automotive industries
- Experience in managing a multi-national sales team
- Excellent command of Mandarin and English, CET 6 for Chinese candidates; oral proficiency in Mandarin for foreign candidates
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel
- Professional attitude and approach to business

Compensation:
Basic salary of RMB 20,000 with other generous benefits. Highly-generous sales commission, linked to individual and team performance, with no limit.
