Description

Established in September 2011, Global Institute (GI) runs Tokyo International School Afterschool (TISAS) and Tokyo International School Kindergarten (TISKG) at our Nakameguro and Minami Azabu campuses. In April 2014 we opened a new franchise campuses in Kachidoki, Chuo-ku, with a company named Global Academy (GA).

TISAS is an after school program that provides an immersion environment (children must attend at least 3 days per week) for non-native English speaking children. Students attend classes from 2pm until 7pm (the students arrive anytime between 2pm and 4pm). The first 2 hour block is called See, Hear and Wonder Time and is a guided play and homework time. Between 4pm and 7pm we have 5 focused study blocks: Circle Time, Kinesthetic, Story Telling, Language Strategies, and Course Time. The Course Time is different each day: Monday is Food, Tuesday is Art, Wednesday is Music, Thursday is Our World, and Friday is Kids Force. Classes are separated by age group and the maximum number of students per class is 18.

We are currently looking to hire a Teacher who will join a team of two other full time Afterschool teachers at the Kachidoki campus in August, 2015.

POSITION DETAILS: The work week is Monday to Friday. Paid vacation days are every Saturday and Sunday, public holidays, one week during summer, two weeks in winter, and five days of flexible leave. The daily work schedule is 11:00am to 20:00pm, but it must be mentioned that the Teacher is expected to put in the hours necessary to provide students with a learning experience of the highest possible quality.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: We are looking for a confident, dedicated, and passionate teacher. Candidates must have a university degree and two years experience (ideally working with elementary students in Japan). Some management experience is preferable.

LOCATION: The school is located near Kachidoki station on the Oedo line.

START DATE: End of August, 2015.

COMPENSATION: The starting wage will be between 300,000 and 330,000 per month (depending on qualifications and experience). The first three months will be a probation period. Participation in the Social Insurance and Pension scheme is required (company contributions are made on top of the stated wage level with teacher contributions being deducted from the wage). The monthly transportation reimbursement amount is negotiable.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS: GI is providing a recruitment service for GA. GI will screen resumes to check that minimum requirements are met. Candidates will be contacted to arrange face-to-face interviews at our Nakameguro HQ, or Skype web-interviews for those who live outside Tokyo. Candidates will be asked to bring with them their residence cards, passports, copies of qualifications and letters of reference. Following the first round of interviews candidates will be short-listed for a second round of interviews, which will include a trial lesson. These second round interviews will be conducted with GA staff, and GA will then make the final decision. Once that final decision has been made GI will contact all candidates to inform them of the decision. The successful candidate will meet with GA to sign employment documentation.

We look forward to receiving your application.
