SCOPE:

Direct Entertainers' vocal and music performances in Universal Studios Japan’s live shows, recording sessions, and special and seasonal events.
Maintain consistently high quality of park musical shows and also, as directed, assist in maintaining overall show quality of parkwide entertainment products
Advise Show Captains with supervising day-to-day vocal and musical aspects of shows, and join operational meetings when necessary to discuss, evaluate and resolve issues relating to Entertainers’ vocal, musical, and performance quality.
Coordinate with Entertainment Operations in scheduling and running vocal rehearsals for maintenance of existing shows.
Evaluate media and materials for possible casting considerations and attend internal auditions as a panel member for Entertainment Creative.
Provide guidance from the Entertainment Creative team to respective departments where musical and/or acoustic elements are involved (Production, AV Technical, etc.)
When requested, provide guidance and support to consultant Musical Directors with planning, organizing and running vocal rehearsals for remounts and new shows.
Where necessary for show treatments, prepare scores and audio demos for rehearsal situations and/or workshops.
Participate in creative brainstorm sessions and concept development for new projects, regular shows and marketing/sales-related functions.
Participate in the development of show treatments, scripts and materials necessary for show development and production, as well as presentation-style documents to describe and/or illustrate new concepts for Entertainment and internal department review if requested by Universal Studios Japan creative entertainment.
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Music Degree/Musical Theater Degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of comparable work experience in the entertainment industry required. Theme park industry experience is highly preferred. Directorial, teaching, and performance experience required. Fluency in English is required. Conversational Japanese is a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Must have the ability to accompany vocalists and play vocal arrangements.
Vocal training and performance/music theory expertise required.
Excellent communications skills and strong decision-making abilities.
Software: working knowledge of personal computers within a Windows environment with email, Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and related printers and equipment. Must have a working knowledge of music notation software (Sibelius, Finale). Experience with audio sequencing software (GarageBand, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, etc.) a plus.
This position will require relocation to Osaka, Japan, and the role will be considered a regular, full-time team member at Universal Studios Japan.
