Description

Established in 1985, Tokyo International School Group (TISG) runs Tokyo International School Afterschool (TISAS), Tokyo International School Kindergarten (TISKG) and Tokyo International School Learning Through English (TISLTE) at our Nakameguro, Minami Azabu, Komazawa, and Toritsudai model school campuses in Tokyo. We also have franchise campuses based in Kachidoki (in Tokyo), Maruyama (in Sapporo), Nishinomiya (in Kobe), and Ohori (in Fukuoka).

TISAS is an after school program that provides an immersion environment (children must attend at least 3 days per week) for non-native English speaking children. Students attend classes from 2pm until 7pm (the students arrive anytime between 2pm and 4pm). The first 2 hour block is called See, Hear and Wonder Time and is a guided play and homework time. Between 4pm and 7pm we have 5 focused study blocks: Circle Time, Kinesthetic, Story Telling, Language Strategies, and Course Time. The Course Time is different each day: Monday is Our World, Tuesday is Art, Wednesday is Makers, Thursday is Fantastic Food, and Friday is Kids Force. Classes are separated by age group and the maximum number of students per class is 16.

We are currently looking to interview teachers for prospective new positions for the 2021 school year.

POSITION DETAILS: The work week is Monday to Friday at our Naka Meguro, Minami Azabu, Maruyama, Shukugawa, Kachidoki, and Ohori cumpuses, and Tuesday to Saturday at our Toritsudai and Komazawa campuses. Paid vacation days are every Saturday and Sunday, public holidays, one week during summer, two weeks in winter, and five days of flexible leave. The daily work schedule is roughly 11:30am to 19:30pm (the exact times vary from campous to campus), but it must be mentioned that the Teacher is expected to put in the hours necessary to provide students with a learning experience of the highest possible quality.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: We are looking for a confident, dedicated, and passionate teacher. Candidates must have a university degree and two years experience (ideally working with elementary students in Japan).

START DATE: April 1st, 2021.

TRAINING: Initial training will take place in the beginning of April. During the year there are 4 compulsory Sunday training days (currently scheduled for the end of April, May, August and November).

COMPENSATION: The wage rate varies from campus to campus due to different work hours.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS: Since we are looking for teachers for prospective positions, we will only be doing first round interviews via Skype. At the completion of interviews we will create a short list of candidates for second round interviews. Once we know what positions we have available for 2021 (we usually know by the start of December), we will start arranging second round interviews (which will include a trial lesson). At the completion of second round interviews, a decision will be made and the successful candidate will be sent a sample contract to read through before a forward offer of emplyment is made.

We look forward to receiving your application.
