Reporting to the Executive Director, Department for Trade, Tourism and Investment, the Regional Director, Japan and North East Asia will play a critical role in identifying market opportunities and driving trade, tourism and investment outcomes for South Australia. This position has coverage of the North East Asia markets including South Korea.

The position will play a significant role in promoting and supporting South Australian businesses in Japan, as well as the region, by building and leveraging established networks to take advantage of commercial opportunities. Representing South Australian business interests at the highest levels will be a core responsibility.

Suitably qualified applications are sought from candidates with strong, high-level business and government networks in Japan. Complemented by a sophisticated understanding of South Australia's business capability and international competitiveness.

The candidate will have commercial and political acumen, along with excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management and leadership skills. A critical part of the role will involve timely dissemination of information back to South Australian industry, identifying opportunities and challenges. Maximum flexibility and pragmatism are also necessary to influence and succeed in this role. The role statement can be provided upon request.
