Established in 1985, Tokyo International School Group (TISG) runs Tokyo International School Afterschool (TISAS), Tokyo International School Kindergarten (TISKG) and Tokyo International School Learning Through English (TISLTE) at our Nakameguro, Minami Azabu, Komazawa and Toritsudai model school campuses in Tokyo. We also have franchise campuses based in Kachidoki (Chuo-ku), Minato Mirai (Yokohama), Oimachi (Shinagawa), Maruyama (Sapporo), Shukugawa (Kobe), and Ohori (Fukuoka).
The Shukugawa team has an opening for the TISAS program for the new calendar year.
TISAS is an after school program that provides an immersion environment (children must attend at least 3 days per week) for non-native English speaking children. Students attend classes from 1:45 pm until 6:45 pm (the students arrive anytime between 1:45 pm and 3:45 pm). The first 2 hours are called See, Hear and Wonder Time and is a guided playtime and homework time. Between 3:45 pm and 6:45 pm, we have 5 focused study blocks: Circle Time, Kinesthetic, Story Telling, Language Strategies, and Course Time. The Course Time is different each day with Monday being Food, Tuesday is Art, Wednesday is Music, Thursday is Our World, and Friday is Kids Force. Classes are separated by age group and the maximum number of students per class is 18.
POSITION DETAILS: The workweek is from Monday to Friday. Paid vacation days are every Saturday and Sunday, public holidays, five days paid leave (after the first 6 months of employment), one week in summer and two weeks in winter. The daily work schedule is 10:30 am to 19:30 pm, however, the actual block of work hours may shift slightly forward or back depending on the needs of the campus.
IDEAL CANDIDATE: We are looking for a confident, dedicated, and passionate teacher. Candidates must have a university degree and two years of experience (working with elementary students in Japan).
LOCATION: The school is located near Kurakuen-guchi station on the Hankyu Koyo line and Shukugawa station on the Hankyu Kobe line.
START DATE: The start date is April 1st, 2020.
TRAINING: A training period of 1 week will be held prior to the start of classes.
COMPENSATION: The starting wage will be 270,000 per month. Participation in the Social Insurance and Pension is required (company contributions are made on top of the stated wage level with teacher contributions being deducted from the wage). Transportation is reimbursed up to 50,000 per month.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS: TISG is providing a recruitment service for Seibunkan. TISG will screen resumes to check that minimum requirements are met. Candidates who meet the requirements will be contacted to arrange face-to-face interviews for teachers who are able to come to our Tokyo HQ or Skype web-interviews for those who can’t. Candidates will be asked to bring with them their residence cards, passports, copies of qualifications and letters of reference. Following the first round of interviews candidates will be short-listed for a second round of interviews, which will include a trial lesson. These second-round interviews will be conducted with Seibunkan staff and they will make the final decision. Once that final decision has been made TISG will contact all candidates to inform them of the decision. The successful candidate will meet with Seibunkan to sign employment documentation.
