Description

Established in 1985, Tokyo International School Group (TISG) runs Tokyo International School Afterschool (TISAS), Tokyo International School Kindergarten (TISKG) and Tokyo International School Learning Through English (TISLTE) at our Nakameguro and Minami Azabu model school campuses in Tokyo. We also have franchise campuses based in Kachidoki and Oomori (in Tokyo), Minato Mirai (in Yokohama), Maruyama (in Sapporo), Nishinomiya (in Kobe), and Ohori (in Fukuoka).

TISAS is an after school program that provides an immersion environment (children must attend at least 3 days per week) for non-native English speaking children. Students attend classes from 2pm until 7pm (the students arrive anytime between 2pm and 4pm). The first 2 hour block is called See, Hear and Wonder Time and is a guided play and homework time. Between 4pm and 7pm we have 5 focused study blocks: Circle Time, Kinesthetic, Story Telling, Language Strategies, and Course Time. The Course Time is different each day: Monday is Our World, Tuesday is Art, Wednesday is Makers, Thursday is Fantastic Food, and Friday is Kids Force. Classes are separated by age group and the maximum number of students per class is 16.

We are currently looking to hire a Teacher for the new school year.

POSITION DETAILS: The work week is Monday to Friday. Paid vacation days are every Saturday and Sunday, public holidays, one week during summer, two weeks in winter, and five days of flexible leave. The daily work schedule is 11:30am to 19:30pm, but it must be mentioned that the Teacher is expected to put in the hours necessary to provide students with a learning experience of the highest possible quality.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: We are looking for a confident, dedicated, and passionate teacher. Candidates must have a university degree and two years experience (ideally working with elementary students in Japan).

START DATE: April 1st, 2019.

TRAINING: Initial training will take place from Monday the 1st of April to Friday the 5th. The school year starts April 8th. During the year there are 4 compulsory Sunday training days (currently scheduled for the end of April, May, August and November).

COMPENSATION: The first three months is a probation period and the wage will be 280,000 per month. Following probation the wage will be 300,000 per month. Transportation will be reimbursed up to 15,000 per month.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS: We will screen resumes to check that minimum requirements are met. Candidates will be contacted to arrange face-to-face interviews at our Meguro HQ, or Skype web-interviews for those who live outside Tokyo. Candidates will be asked to bring with them their residence cards, passports, copies of qualifications and letters of reference. Following the first round of interviews candidates will be short-listed for a second round of interviews, which will include a trial lesson. At the completion of the second round interviews a decision will be made. Once that final decision has been made we will contact all candidates to inform them of the decision. The successful candidate will then meet with us again to sign employment documentation.

We look forward to receiving your application.
