Description

Role: Teacher - Learning Support - Special Educational Needs

Responsibilities: To deliver high quality therapy and individualised learning programs, manage family cases and deliver in school training in line with QUEST TOKYO SEN HUB expectations and training

Teaching and Learning
- Ensure therapy, teaching and learning is targeted and challenging
- Focus on progress and success
- Give clear, immediate and ongoing oral/written feedback so pupils know how to improve
- Communicate articulately with the parents of pupils about their child's progress
- Assess and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils
- Plan therapy and programs of work, using assessment to inform future planning
- Manage and maintain high standards of pupil behaviour in all learning situations
- Provide exercises or learning tasks to be completed outside the lesson where appropriate

Case Management
- Manage all aspects of assessment, support and therapy for each child/family
- Maintain communication with child's school on progress and support needs
- Arrange, attend and lead child centred meetings with family, school and therapists regularly to review and update IEP
- Liaise with 1:1 class based support teachers

Teacher Training
- Lead SEN training for teachers in school
- Offer support and advice on best class based practice
- Respond to need and tailor training

Other Specific Responsibilities
- Ensure health and safety of all pupils
- Take responsibility in an emergency situation
- Monitor attendance of pupils


Person Specification
Must have:
- a valid visa and eligibility to work in Japan
- training and qualifications in SEN 

Experience
Experience within the British education system will be of particular advantage to any candidate.
Evidence of:
- Successful primary/secondary school pupil support/therapy/teaching
- Ensuring and assessing pupil progress
- Excellent outcomes for pupils

Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Knowledge of a specific SEN area, child development stages and curriculum
- Engaging and impactful therapy and teaching skills
- Commitment to being a positive team member
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to build excellent working relationships with families and pupils
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
