Description

Pelican English School is currently accepting applications for full time Native English Instructors at our school in Narukocho, Midori ku, Nagoya.
This school is near Naruko Kita subway station on the Sakura Dori line.

We teach students of all ages, kinder, elementary, JHS, HS, adult conversation and business classes, Toeic, Eiken, overseas survival English, etc.

This school is an Eikaiwa (English Conversation School).

English Conversation Teacher Duties.
Planning original lessons customized to the needs of each of your classes, according to the Pelican English School curriculum:
-Conducting lessons that are both entertaining and informative each week
-Taking a genuine interest in the development of our students over the course of the school year
-Participating in the planning and execution of seasonal events such as Halloween, Christmas.
-Attending Training Days to collaborate with the rest of the team in order to refine curriculum, plan events, and continue to develop your teaching skills.
Can teach English Phonics.
Can sing and dance for the younger students, the 2 year old students love this.
Also doing trial lessons to attract new students. ( bonuses are paid for new sign ups)

Teacher who has common sense, hard working, adjustable, native English speaker, rational, honest, well-motivated
Experience is a plus
Japanese speaking ability is not necessary, teachers who want to practice and improve their Japanese skills are unwelcome, there is no Japanese language spoken in the classroom by the teacher. (No Japanese is spoken to the parents by the teacher).
We have many parents who study English because of this system.
There will be a three month trial period, if the candidate shows improvement and attracts more students to the school the teacher will receive added salary incentives.

Candidates with the following attributes will be given top consideration:
- Genuinely loves to teach all ages.
- Can be relaxed around both children and adults
- Open minded, caring demeanour.
- Planning on a career in teaching
- Is positive, easy going, flexible, but also motivated to work hard and be the best they can be as a teacher.
Understands how to use a computer (Android) (macOS)
- Has a creative mind, with interests including drawing, music, writing, theater, singing dancing etc
- Understands and accepts cultural differences in working with Japanese staff and management
- Qualifications such as CELTA or TEFL, TESOL certification are an advantage, but not a necessity.
- Native English speaker who has studied in an English ONLY school in an English only country.
Someone who can work as a team member and wants to make the school grow.
Has a total understanding of classroom management skills in an Eikaiwa.
Accepted candidates will be asked to come back for a second interview and have the opportunity to show their skills by presenting a demonstration lesson.

Working hours.
Monday to Saturday two days off a week. (Sunday off).
Weekdays 1:00 to 9:00pm, one hour break. Saturday 9:00am to 6:00 pm. One hour break.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Transport allowance, Paid holidays etc.

10 days paid holiday after 6 months continuous work
5 days of summer holiday
Christmas holiday 23rd to 4th January.


Including social insurance per Japanese requirements.
