Description

Game Closure is looking for an HR Ops to join our team in Tokyo! This person will be reporting to the VP of HR, based in California. This entry level HR position will initially support our Tokyo office, and own all administrative aspects of on-boarding, relocations to Tokyo from varied countries, and the immigration Visa process required to employ foreigners in Japan. In this role, there is an opportunity to learn and grow in all HR disciplines, including Compensation and Organizational Development.

Responsibilities:
● Understand and apply HR practices & policies in the operating market, Japan.
● Develop all documentation required to register the employee for payroll and benefits, to be ready before or on the first day of employment.
● Partner with hiring managers to prepare and equip new employees with all the tools, connectivity and workstation needed to be productive on day one.
● For employees relocating to Japan, support any external administrative needs including filing for legal documentation required, identifying and negotiating rental agreements for permanent housing, or answering questions regarding life in Tokyo.
● Drive the Visa process, including prior to arrival communication and review of requirements.
● Support employees with translations and documentation as needed.
● Generate and submit documentation as needed. This might include physical delivery of documentation, as well as online and on the phone follow-ups.

Talents/Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, bi-lingual Japanese/English.
- Balance of intuition and analytical skills.
- Ability to make solid judgment decisions.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data.
- Demonstrated multi-cultural DNA, able to navigate and negotiate between the local culture and being part of a US based organization.
- Ability to lead others without authority, through influence skills and demonstrated competence.
- Role model apolitical behavior, by communicating directly and constructively.
- Ability to determine when to escalate issues and to whom.
- Resourceful, able to research new topics and synthesize information.

Experience:
- Candidates must have demonstrated strong administrative skills, including at least basic knowledge of varied Japan processes required for new residents. Previous experience in relocation, global mobility and integration of foreign employees in Japan, would be ideal.
- A strong ‘customer support’ orientation is necessary to succeed in this role. The candidate doesn’t need specific HR experience (ideal but not necessary), as long as there is interest and a pre-disposition to provide support during the job experience.
- PC skills, including Excel/Google Docs are required.
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in global mobility and immigration practices.

Other duties:
As part of the HR organization, it is expected that this individual will do whatever it takes to support the Japan team members. Working closely and collaboratively with the Office Manager, this could range from tactical support (administrative) to higher level support (ie: events). Although day to day employee relations issues/concerns/complaints will be minimized through processes and preventive/proactive strategies, these will surface from time to time, and should be addressed in a timely fashion.
