Description

This opening is for a position as a Full-Time Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Asuka Village in Nara Prefecture from April 2018.

Conditions:
・Monthly salary is 240,000 Japanese yen per month
・Monday to Friday. between 8:15 am to 5:00 pm (TBA)
・Transportation costs will be covered at a certain rate per day
・Days off include weekends, National Holidays, and other holidays set on the Board of Education's school calendar.

As a Non-Profit organization, we are looking for fun and energetic person who can use their skill to motivate children in interesting ways!

The placement will be in Elementary and Junior High Schools, where the ALT will assist as a team teacher and help plan English lessons under a schedule created by NPO GLAD and the Board of Education. In addition to teaching English lessons, you may also be asked to participate in other school activities such as clubs, beautification of the school and cultural festivals. You will be able to immerse yourself in Japanese culture as an ALT.

Contract start date:
April 2018 (1-year long contract)

Position Requirements:
・Must be currently living in Japan or have plans to come to Japan by April 2018
・Must be a native speaker of English, or have acquired an education in English for at least 12 years.
・Must have completed a University Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in English speaking countries
・Must have a strong interest in Japanese culture and language and be able to connect with Japanese people
・Must have conversational Japanese skill
・Must have at least one year of English teaching experience at Elementary school, Junior High school, High School, or Kindergarten
・Japanese/International Drivers Licence (Priority)

Asuka is a village located in Takaichi District, Nara Prefecture, Japan. As of April 1, 2017, the village has an estimated population of 5,681, with 2,170 households. Asuka is the land where ancient Asuka (飛鳥) palaces were located. There are strict rules governing construction in this historic town. Asuka can be reached from Okadera or Asuka Station on Kintetsu Yoshino Line train line. Although it’s outside Asuka, Kashiharajingu-mae Station in neighboring Kashihara has service on the Kintetsu Kashihara Line, Minami Osaka Line and Yoshino Lines. By car, Asuka is on Route 169.
