Public School ALT - Gifu City (expired)

ALTIA CENTRAL is now accepting applications to join our team of fantastic ALTs for a sudden opening we have in Gifu City, starting from April 1st or possibly even sooner. This is a non-driving, mixed junior high and elementary school position, which is easily commutable by public transport.

Gifu City is a great city with modern urban conveniences, great public transportation, easy access to the mountains and outdoors, and is located right in the very center of Japan just 25 minutes by train from Nagoya City.

ALTIA CENTRAL will be conducting weekday interviews on an ongoing basis at our head office in Nagoya to fill this and other positions this fall so we are looking for as many great applicants as possible.

ALTs work in public schools assisting the Japanese teachers, and helping to provide a positive and energetic experience through English for the students. It’s a great chance to learn and use the Japanese language on a daily basis, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly to be positively involved with the development of young children. Successful applicants for April 1st should be available for a full 3-4 day Orientation/Training session in late March before starting their contracts, ready to be in school from April 1st at the latest.

You must be flexible, enjoy working with young children, and be motivated to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for their students. A strong desire to live and work in Japan, good Japanese language skills, and teaching experience with young learners is also highly recommended. A minimum BA/BS degree is required, and a degree in a relevant field such as Japanese, Japanese History, East Asian Studies, Linguistics and the like are particularly useful though not absolutely necessary.
