Description

We are looking for an experienced, creative, and enthusiastic full-time head English teacher for our Kids English programs. The head teacher will act as an English program coordinator too.

*STRONG CANDIDATES for this position would be those who:
・have a degree in Education or equivalent
・have a strong passion for nurturing children’s potential through education, and
・are organized, flexible, and able to communicate in Japanese.

[Contract Term]
One year from March or April 2020
*The first 3 months of employment are a probationary period
*Orientation may begin earlier depending on the new teacher's availability

[Place of Employment]
The full-time teacher will work at locations listed below:
・Nagoya YMCA (Ikeshita): Chikusa-Ku Nagoya                
・Nanzan Family YMCA: Shouwa-Ku Nagoya
・Kamisawa Family YMCA: Midori-Ku, Nagoya
・A kindergarten in Higashi-ku, Nagoya, for dispatch lessons

[Salary]
Minimum ¥250,000-¥340,000 /month (starting salary)
*Salary is fixed
*After completing the first contract term, your performance will be evaluated and you may be eligible for salary increase under the next contract.

[Basic Work Schedule]
・5 days /week (Usually Sunday and Monday off, except during seasonal programs)
・8 hours /day (e.g. 9am – 6pm, 10am-7pm including a 1-hour lunch break)
*Your work shift will be determined based on your regular and seasonal class schedule.
*Nagoya YMCA asks you to work on Monday once in a while

[Holidays]
・National holidays, summer Obon holidays, year end & new year holidays.
・Annual paid leave

[Types of Classes]
・Regular weekly English classes for kindergarten age students and elementary school age students (up to 12 students per class)
・Kindergarten dispatch English lessons at Nanzan Yochien (YMCA), Kamisawa Hoikuen (YMCA), and other locations
・Infant group English lesson at a YMCA Infant class for 2-year old
・Weekly English lesson for YMCA's after-school day care English lesson (elementary school ages)
・Others

[Duty]
Responsibilities include the followings:
・Develop teaching curriculum for our kids English programs
・Prepare and select teaching materials for our English programs
・Assist in hiring part-time teachers
・Assist, supervise, and offer feedback to part-time teachers
・Coordinate and conduct orientations for part-time teachers
・Teach English classes as assigned
・Monitor and evaluate students’ performance
・Ensure the English only policy is followed all the time during lessons
・Establish and maintain order in the classroom
・Maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning
・Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to provide a duty of care for students and to protect and preserve all materials, equipment, and facilities
・Cooperate with office staff
・Establish cooperative and supportive relationships with teaching personnel and YMCA staff
・Interact with parents after class
・Attend YMCA events
