We are a private girls' junior high and high school in Arakawa, Tokyo. This opening is for an experienced teacher who is a native speaker of English. Candidates must have completed a minimum of a four-year degree and have experience teaching in Japan. Degrees related to TESOL or a graduate-level degree is preferred but not required. Basic Japanese conversation skills are valuable but not required to apply for this position.
Working Conditions
Working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:50 ~16:35. (8-hour workdays) There are times when the school will ask for teachers to participate in school events on weekends. These days are credited back to teachers on days when there are no regular classes.
Depending on experience, salary is between 260,000 and 280,000 yen per month before taxes. Employees pay into a health insurance program. The total cost of commuting will be covered.
In addition to all national holidays, spring, summer and winter holidays are paid. (about 10 days in spring, 2 weeks in winter and about one month in summer)
Responsibility / Duties
Native English teachers are required to plan their daily lessons to meet curriculum goals. Evaluations are conducted at the end of each of the school year's four terms. Junior high school classes meet three times a week and stress English skills used for basic English communication.
Native English teachers are also in charge of their homeroom morning lessons and other daily tasks to support the members of the high school homeroom. High school classes include writing, English conversation, cross-culture communication and speech presentation. The teacher for this position also meets with students after school to improve their work and prepare for testing or university interviews in English.
