Description

Our teachers lead dynamic and interactive play-based preschool, after school and "mommy and me" classes that build children’s cognitive, social and physical skills. Designed by child development experts, our programming focuses on and supports the specific developmental milestones children are working on at their age. In addition to leading classes, teachers will be required to lead birthday parties and events.

We provide excellent paid training, support, and motivation to help you grow and succeed. Employees are thoroughly trained in the Gymboree Method of Teaching, operation of our facilities, and child development. This training requires a commitment to learn and grow, and is a long-term proposition. The official training period may last up to 2 months and ends as soon as you can teach your first class on your own.

We are currently looking for candidates who:
- are confident singing and performing in front of children and parents
- have a playful and energetic personality and teaching style
- enjoy playing with and teaching young children in mommy and me and drop-off setting
- are team players and can share responsibilities with other staff
- are willing to get involved in the non-teaching aspects of the position
(admin, cleaning, marketing, training, etc.)
- are comfortable answering the phone and speaking with customers in Japanese

The following qualifications are also preferred:
-experience working in a daycare or preschool in Japan or abroad
-ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

<Typical Workday>
In addition to preparing for and teaching classes, teachers will be asked to help keep the site clean and follow-up with customers.

<Workplace & Hours>
Possible Locations: Motoazabu(Hiroo), Jiyugaoka, Asagaya, Bashamichi (Yokohama)
*Depending on your home address and our needs, you may be asked
to work at more than one location.
Workdays:
3-4 days a week
* Teachers who would like more hours will have the opportunity to come
in extra days to cover for other teachers when they are sick or on vacation

Hours:
8 working hours a day

Expected Start Date: As soon as possible

** Teachers may be asked to go to another location for training and to cover for other teachers.

<Hourly Wages>
Training Period: 1,400 yen/hour
Training will take place at the Motoazabu and Asagaya locations.

Starting Wages After the Training Period*:
Mommy and Me Classes and Activity Lead in Preschool/After School/
Saturday School- 2,400 yen/hour, Support teaching: 1,700 yen/hour,
Non-teaching - 1,500 yen/hour

*At Gymboree, employees are paid not only for their teaching hours
but for their non-teaching (class prep, cleaning, and customer service, etc.)
hours as well. (On average, teachers lead activities for 3-4 hours a day and
prep for up to 2 hours a day.)

<Benefits>
Transportation expenses covered (up to 1,200 yen/day)

<Holidays>
3-4 days per week (days depend on working location and scheduling needs)
Paid holiday is also available after 6 months working with us.
