We are hiring for a Field Organizer and a Digital Campaigner

◎ About the 350.org Japan Field Organizer
The 350.org Japan Field Organiser will work with the 350.org Japan team to build a community of people ready to take action on climate change and spread fossil fuel divestment in Japan. The Field Organizer will work as part of 350.org Japan team and engage frequently with a community of passionate volunteers. This is a full-time position based in Tokyo. The employee will report to Shin Furuno, the 350.org Japan team lead.

◎ Responsibilities:
Leading online and offline recruitment of new volunteers and supporters, and organizing volunteer trainings;
Leading and supporting the maintenance of existing connections and building new connections with key-persons and organizations;
Organising logistics, registration, appointments for successful execution of seminars, workshops, events and actions
Leading and supporting creative projects such as the visual products including event promotions, videos, flyers, logos, websites, and action props to amplify campaigns;
Representing the organisation at specific events, attending to media inquiries and speaking to public audiences about 350.org Japan’s campaigns;
Supporting the campaigner, digital campaigner, communications officer by providing input over direction, strategy and campaign outputs;

◎ Required Qualifications
A strong motivation to solve the climate crisis through grassroots organizing
Is passionate about climate change, fossil fuel finance, and environmental conservation
Excellent oral and written communications skills in Japanese and English
Equipped with excellent organisational skills especially on volunteer engagement and/or community engagement and management
A strong desire to learn and constantly improve
Experience working / adapting / communicating with people from diverse cultures
Ability to carry out evolving and competing tasks and meet deadlines

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.

◎ About the Japan Digital Campaigner:
The Japan Digital Campaigner will contribute to 350.org's key goals to strengthen climate change action in Japan and spread fossil fuel divestment through innovative and creative engagement across all digital platforms. The position will develop digital strategies, produce digital content and manage online platforms to encourage online and offline activism in support of 350.org's campaigns. This is a full-time position based in Tokyo, Japan and will report directly to East Asia Digital Team Leader.

◎ Responsibilities:

Digital Tasks:
Develop and implement strategic digital plans for campaigns in Japan in collaboration with global digital team with an eye towards growing and engaging new audiences and increasing the mailing list and followers in Japan;
Manage digital channels and create engaging content to share campaign updates, victories, stories and otherwise support 350.org Japan’s campaigns - including crafting emails, social media, blog posts, infographics, videos etc;
Manage 350 Japan’s websites in line with our global digital platforms and strategy;
Monitor digital analytics to ensure campaign progress and implement continual improvements in digital systems;
Support volunteers and affiliate groups to leverage and grow their digital programs

Campaign Tasks:
Assist 350.org Japan teams, project teams, and partners to identify opportunities and develop and implement strategic campaigns in Japan
Contribute to strategic campaign planning with input from Japan, East Asia, and digital 350.org staff
Collaborate with partners on digital mobilisation strategy, planning, and execution, and attend key local and regional movement gatherings
Help cultivate the 350.org volunteer and partner network in Japan by assisting the 350.org Japan Field Organiser
Devise and run digital workshops or trainings with partners and volunteers to strengthen 350.org ‘s network and campaigns, if and when required
Draft reports on digital campaign activities/results, and work with analysis/research team for conducting campaign related research, if required

◎ Required Qualifications
At least 1 year experience in community and online organizing;
Existing technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, Wordpress and SQL, or demonstrated ability to pick up similar technical skill quickly;
Experience with managing email lists and social media accounts;
Strong, detail-oriented communicator who takes initiative independently;
Able to work in collaborative, fluid team environment and demonstrate commitment to end fossil fuel and climate change;
Native level Japanese proficiency; Business level English proficiency.

Strategic campaign development expertise and excellent problem-solving skills
Understanding of how online organising can help build campaigns to scale
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
