Description

Are you our shipbroker of tomorrow?

SHIPBROKER TRAINEE

This is your chance to build your career in a dynamic and inspiring environment. Our trainees graduate as shipbrokers, with the commercial capabilities to generate profitable results, powered by the ability to build and maintain professional relationships. A development opportunity you cannot say no to? We want to make you the shipbroker of tomorrow.

On-the-job training from day 1
Maersk Broker is active in all segments - Container, Bulk Carriers, Tankers and Offshore. Based on your skills and personality, you will work in a specific area, Chartering, Sale and Purchase or Newbuildings. As you settle in, our starting point is your previous experience and skills as your new mentor introduces you to Maersk Broker, the ships, our market and your areas of responsibility. Quickly, you will be in dialogue and deal with professional customers and colleagues worldwide.

We give you a theoretical foundation
We assess your individual needs to give you the best possible theoretical basis through one or more certificate courses from Lloyd's Maritime Academy. Using on-line distance learning, you may study for a:

· Certificate in Shipping
· Certificate in Chartering
· Certificate in Newbuildings
· Certificate in Sale & Purchase

Being a trainee in Maersk Broker
Our global Shipbroker Trainee Programme starts 1 September 2018. You step into a performance-driven culture, where we provide you with a mentor in your team. Being a shipbroker is as much a lifestyle as it is a job to many of your new colleagues, and you will quickly sense this. We love goals and ring a ship’s bell when we make great business - but we also value teamwork and collaboration. Over time, you will build close customer relationships and gain an international network as you build your knowledge - and your future.

Your personality holds the key to success
An outgoing, entrepreneurial personality will give you a great start. But you are also patient enough to build your expertise and see your work as a learning process. Being a skilled communicator, you are not fazed by dealing with customers more senior than yourself, and you know how to build relations and create results based on your customers’ needs. We imagine that you:

· Preferably hold a commercial degree or have relevant work experience and a great interest in exploring the world of international shipping;
· Have a high proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing;
· Have a strong will to succeed in a competitive environment;
· Have a customer-first attitude and are able to collaborate with your team, other brokers and, of course, your customers.
