Jr.Sr.High Part-Time English Teacher (18 hours per week)（到期)

Thank you for your interest in the position of part-time English Teacher.

Hiroshima Johoku Gakuen is a private boys’ school, grades 7 through 12 and co-ed kindergarten, located in Hesaka, Hiroshima City. The school places a strong emphasis upon academic excellence and continually produces graduates who attend some of the most prestigious universities in the country and abroad.

From April, 2018, a total of 18 teaching hours have become available for an enthusiastic and motivated native level speaker of English. The successful applicant will be part of a English department of 18 staff, including 4 full-time native level speakers of English. Teaching will be across a range of junior and senior high school grades. For each grade a lead teacher will provide a curriculum and lesson plans/material. Preparation time will be kept to a minimum, however some grading etc. should be expected. The successful applicant will be offered a one-year contract, renewable upon positive appraisal.

Applicants must:
• possess a university B.A./B.S./B.Ed. (or equivalent).
• have experience teaching Japanese junior and/or senior high school students.
• demonstrate an ability to be able to work individually and as part of a team.
• be comfortable using technology in the classroom.
• be comfortable teaching class sizes of up to 20 students.
• currently reside in Japan and be eligible to work.

In addition, applicants with a teaching qualification from their home country, and/or a professional qualification in the field of English as a Second/Foreign Language and conversational Japanese will be favored.

Renumeration:
• Annual salary of ￥2,424,240 (breakdown below).
• A monthly salary of ￥2,590 x the number of lessons taught will be paid. At 18 hours a week this will come to ￥186,480 p.c.m.
• Salary will also be paid during school vacation time, (approx. 2 months p.a.) even though generally there are no teaching hours and attendance is not required.
• A one-month bonus will also be paid annually.
• Therefore a total annual salary (at 18 hours p.w.) will be ￥186,480 x 13months = ￥2,424,240.
• In addition, travel expenses will be provided.
• Lessons are taught between 8:40~16:10, Monday to Friday. The teacher is free to come and go if they are not teaching, and there is some flexibility in scheduling.
