Description

Cocoro Lab is a company which operates a number of nurseries, kindergartens, and after-school programs throughout Tokyo and surrounding areas. We offer very high quality, effective English programs to our students. We believe that the freedom of the English teachers to create and deliver their own curriculum and lessons 3-4 times a week is very important and part of the reason we see such success.

Working with Cocoro Lab’s after-school program will involve being a part of the students’ daily routines, as we also believe in learning through immersion. We are looking for candidates who are comfortable being part of our school not just as an English teacher, but as a childcare provider as well. We provide all necessary training and our staff members are very helpful and understanding, aiming to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for our students.

We do not require our candidates to have any formal qualifications or experience, although is it preferred you have some experience around children. Care and passion for the well-being and development of children is a must!

Location: Ojima (Ojima Station – Toei Shinjuku Line)
Children aged: 6-10 years old
Hours: 13pm-8pm (6 hour shift) Mon-Fri (occasional shifts starting from 8am). Occasional paid Saturday work. National holidays off.
Salary: 1,400-2,100 yen per month (negotiable based on experience)

About your role:
-teach two 45-minute English lessons with your classes (10-20 students) per day, 3-4 times a week
-ensure the safety and well-being of students
-develop your own curriculum, make materials, and write lesson reports
-meet with other English teachers to discuss and develop lesson delivery monthly
-clean and assist other staff with daily duties such as picking up kids from school, snack time, and communicating with parents
-plan and take part in school events (English teachers are the main planners for Halloween, Christmas, and English Fair events)

The right candidate will:
-have some Japanese speaking ability (at least conversational level) and be able to work and interact in a Japanese workplace
-have a genuine interest and care for children
-be committed to working the full contract term
-be of good character
-enjoy being creative, fun, and energetic
