Language Lounge Native Tutor and/or Hachioji Minamino Eikaiwa Teacher
Teikyo Language Commons (TeLaCo) is a language support facility at the Teikyo University Hachioji Campus that assists Teikyo University students from all majors in many facets of language learning including but not limited to:
Speaking and listening practice
Vocabulary and grammar usage
Pronunciation correction
Writing composition revision
Standardized test prep (TOEIC, IELTS, Eiken, etc...)
Native Tutors are available to support the speaking and listening aspects of facility users of all levels as well as participate in events designed to facilitate language learning through cultural immersion. This position requires a flexibility in handling group conversations that include students of various levels as well as the ability to quickly understand and adapt to students’ limitations. Applicants should be able to:
Confidently approach and converse with students who are new to facility
Have fun and interesting conversation with students at all levels of language ability
Take the initiative to provide helpful concrete feedback
Preserve professionalism in a casual environment
Be able to pick up on to subtle cultural and social cues
Present themselves as bright, friendly, and easy-to-approach.
Minamino Hachioji School is an Eikaiwa primarily focused on young learners. Students are all ages from 2 years old and up. Classes are primarily afternoon and evening hours teaching private and group lessons (up to 8).
The ideal candidate would have:
Minimum 2 years’ experience of teaching in both private and group settings
Experience of teaching children.
Some experience in curriculum development.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Professional attitude.
Strong work ethics.
Basic Office skills.
Schedule:
The part time contract period for TeLaCo begins when the facility opens for 16 weeks during the spring. A separate part time contract will be drafted to cover the 16-week fall semester period. The Minamino classes will be taught year round. Candidates can opt to work at either TeLaCo or Minamio or create a combination schedule including both.
