English Station is an English program in Suita, Osaka, and a part of YBM Japan. We offer language classes mainly for children, but also adults and teenagers. We are passionate about the long-term welfare of our students and believe in holistic, skill-based language education.
Requirements
• Native or near-native English Speaker (any variety)
• Teaching experience or equivalent training
• Bachelor’s Degree (any field)
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Growth mindset and optimistic attitude
Class times
Mostly 3-7pm, Tuesday through Friday
Saturday 10-4pm
Teachers are expected to plan and teach their own lessons based on English Station curriculum (planning time is paid). Curriculum is provided in the form of textbooks for each class, but teachers are encouraged to go outside the text and develop original activities, projects, and games. We see language not as a school subject, but as a tool for interpreting and interacting with the world.
We offer traditional eikaiwa-style classes, as well as less traditional “Activity” classes. Activity classes cover topics such as video production, crafts, and design. If you have artistic, scientific, or other skills that may lend themselves to an Activity class, please emphasize this in your application.
Preference will be given to candidates who expressly wish to stay for at least one year. Teaching is relational work, so we highly value teachers who can build and maintain trust with their students and coworkers. Due to the level of autonomy and trust we put in our staff, this position is best suited for people who are self-directed, creative, and highly dependable.
Please include a short description of your interest and experience in education, as well as any relevant personal details you think we should know.
We look forward to hearing from you!
