Description

Thesaurus House specializes in test prep for the EIKEN Level 1 Test. This is the highest EIKEN level, so most of our students are relatively advanced. We need a candidate with a strong academic background who can teach our students not only about English expression, but about various topics that may come up on the test. These topics include international affairs, politics, society, science, technology, and current events. All applicants should be informed and conversant on these topics.

We also prepare students for the United Nations Associations Test of English, Special A level (top level). This requires advanced knowledge of the UN as well as international and domestic issues.

Both examinations include a speaking test, with the EIKEN 1 requiring a 2 minute speech plus questions, and the UN test a 20 minute discussion. We primarily prepare students for these speaking tests, so we require our teachers to be confident with speaking and providing advice on how to speak well.

The schedule is flexible and may change from week to week. It is a part-time position. A masters degree and some teaching experience is required (a graduate degree is highly preferred).

Please apply if you feel you are a good fit for this position. Be sure to include a resume and brief cover letter.
