Description

Berkeley House Language Center is seeking cheerful, friendly, and experienced English instructors to register for possible positions at private junior/senior high schools in the Kanto area for the new academic year starting this April.

We provide onboarding training sessions, various pre-assignment training with our in-house trainers/senior instructors, as well as specialized training in various standardized tests by our IELTS® and TOEFL® experts. We also provide periodical feedback from clients, followed by additional training or assistance if required.

We are looking for instructors who ….
-Are a native-level speaker
-Possess a Bachelors Degree from an accredited University
-Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching EFL
-Hold a teaching certificate from an accredited organization, such as CELTA, DELTA, MA TESOL, etc., which should include a practicum as part of the course work.
-Have experience instructing and extensive knowledge of IB/SAT curricula.
-Have experience teaching subjects other than English: such as Science, Maths, IT, Sports, History, Music, Drama, etc.
-Are team-players

General Schedule & Conditions:

Working days:
-Five days a week between Monday ~ Saturday
-Typically Monday to Friday but dependent on each school's schedule.

At junior/senior high schools, the basic schedule should be from 8:30 am - 3/4/5:00 pm
-5 lessons on average per day would be typical but could change case by case
-work other than teaching: preparing materials/tests, taking care of extra activities
-must be able to work with Japanese teachers effectively
-may need to occasionally work outside of regular hours for school events
-depending on the assignment, may require teaching at multiple locations

At other locations, teaching venues could be
-a private college in the Tokyo area
-university extension courses on campuses
-one to one lessons at our school in Ichigaya

Salary:
-250,000 yen a month + transportation expenses will be reimbursed monthly
-Social insurance coverage (health insurance + pension), employment insurance coverage
-Completion bonus at the end of school year depending on performance and attendance
-10 paid vacation days after the six-month probationary period


Contract period: April 2021 - Mar 2022
