Description

Kalmia School Inc. is urgently looking for an energetic, dedicated native English instructor who can start to work in early May!

Kalmia School was established in summer 2015 as a private-tutoring school to prepare students for JHS/HS/UNV entrance exams. Though a new establishment, we have successfully assisted over 100 students in being accepted by renowned schools.

Kalmia has an English program which consists of daytime adult classes and evening classes for Junior and high school students. Adult classes are 70 minutes long and consist of 60-minute conversation lesson and 10-minute Japanese language commentary session (either can be offered by the instructor him/herself or by a Japanese instructor.) For evening classes, a native instructor and a Japanese instructor work in a team to provide 40 to 50-min. sessions in succession, focusing on speaking/writing and reading/grammar respectively. These classes look to help students develop the four essential skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing, which will be critical in preparing for the new series of university entrance exams now being developed. The maximum number of students in a class is 6 for both adult and student classes, providing for a familiar setting conducive to active participation. The materials for the evening classes are selected by Japanese instructors, allowing the native instructor to focus primarily on the lessons.

Daytime classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday in varying hours. Evening classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 18:40 till 21:40. We have openings for the daytime (late morning and early afternoon) on Thursday and Friday, and all of evening days.

The position is part-time, and working days are negotiable. We will accept candidates who are available one day per week and so on.

The qualified candidate
- Must have a university degree
- Must be a native speaker whose mother tongue is English
- Must already reside in Japan
- Must be proficient using a computer
- Must be able to start to work as soon as the Golden Week is over

Hourly compensation is negotiable depending on your ability, qualification and, above all, enthusiasm to teach. We look forward to receiving your application soon.

We regret that only those considered for a personal interview will be contacted.
