Description

About the school:
Harris English School is located in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture. We are dedicated to offering English education to people of all ages. Students here are keen to learn English – the level of English in Ota City is high compared to most cities in the prefecture – and teachers at Harris English School truly enjoy teaching here. The school is equipped with a library of teaching resources, reading materials, CDs and storybooks the teacher has full access to. The school is located 1.4 km away from Yabuzuka Station on the Tobu Akagi Line.

Teacher Profile:
We welcome cheerful, enthusiastic teachers who are native speakers of English and can communicate well with learners of all ages, especially elementary schoolchildren. The teacher should be dynamic and creative, and being personable is a plus. Experience with teaching English as a Second Language is preferred. The teacher will also be expected to assist students in preparing for standardized tests like the Eiken and TOEIC.

About the position:
Most of our students are in elementary school but we offer a wide range of classes as well. We have classes catering to three-year-old children as well as classes for retirees. Hence, teachers are expected to be able to teach a wide range of students.

Business hours are from 3:00 PM to 9:40 PM, Monday – Saturday, breaks included. Full-time teachers will teach 5 days a week (the specific days will be decided after employment), approximately 15 to 20 hours every week. Part-time teachers are expected to work 1 to 3 days a week. There are typically fewer classes during spring, summer and winter vacation and the teacher will be able to take most of the summer off.

Full-time teachers will receive a monthly remuneration of 200 000 to 260 000 yen, depending on experience and skills. Visa sponsorship and housing can be further discussed should the candidate require them.

Part-time teachers will receive an hourly remuneration of 3000 yen.

Upon employment, the teacher will be on probation for three months. During the probation period the teacher’s performance will be evaluated.
