GIIS Tokyo is a 1300 student strong school and operates separate campuses of equal capacity for the Indian National Curriculum and for the International (IB/Cambridge) curriculum.
This position is for heading the International campus of GIIS Tokyo.
Leadership
▪ Leads the Academic function in the respective International campus (IB/Cambridge).
▪ Designs and delivers annual Academic priorities and organizational strategies in line with the organization’s business plan
▪ Aligns the campus’s mission and vision and designs policies, procedures and processes to GSF’s academic direction
▪ Ensures the highest standards in the implementation of the curriculum and pedagogy
Strategic:
▪ Identifies and communicates key goals and performance indicators and sets measurable targets to evaluate staff performance
▪ Develops, monitors, and reviews strategic plans and processes to best employ expertise, talent and resources for the campus
▪ Reviews succession plans for Coordinators
Academic Operations:
▪ Oversees the various curricula in the campus (PYP, Cambridge, IBDP)
▪ Facilities inter-campus projects, activates, or sharing sessions with the other GIIS campuses
▪ Works closely with the National Head-Academics and Director, Academic Quality Assurance to understand student achievements, results and feedback in the campus, and to identify areas for improvement
▪ Provides assistance to the teachers in order to improve their teaching capabilities and instructional techniques
▪ Evaluate teaching programmes’ relevancy and effectiveness relating to the development of students’ cognitive, physical, aesthetic, social and moral, and leadership capabilities
Non-Academic Operations:
▪ Collaborates with the Admissions Head to increase admission numbers and strengthen the campus’s reputation
▪ Works closely with the Operations Head to ensure smooth operations in the campus,
facilities and cleanliness are maintained, emergency evaluation procedures are developed, IT systems are up-to-date, etc.
▪ Works closely with Human Resources for training and development and recruitment matters
Interaction
▪ Maintains relationships with local regulators and ensures compliance with the statutory requirements
▪ Addresses complex parent enquiries
People Focus
▪ Collaborates proactively with Human Resource to continuously increase competency within the campus to meet future needs through the development and recruitment of talent
▪ Leads the recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of employees in the function
▪ Builds and manages high performing teams within the campus by providing leadership, role clarity, training and career development
