Private J&S High School’s English Teacher in Yachiyo, Chiba (expired)

Project GENIUS (Operating company: Korakuen English Centre) needs a motivated, adaptable, and outgoing TESOL-experienced instructor for a full-time EFL teaching position at a private junior and senior high school in Yachiyo, Chiba beginning in April, 2019.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have at least one-year experience teaching at a public or private junior high school or high school in Japan.
You will enjoy becoming a member of an already established team on-site. You should enjoy the process of collaborative lesson planning, both face-to-face and online. You will be comfortable sharing and borrowing ideas from other teachers not only at this school but throughout our organization through an online system.

You will be interested in being an active member of school community, including interacting with students during regular club activities as well as informally outside of the classroom during recess and after school.

You will be interested in being observed from time to time to receive constructive feedback on your teaching practices. You will strive to get the best possible results at the school where you will be teaching, as well as be willing seek out opportunities to learn from other educators across the greater community of educators.

You should believe that teaching is an art in every sense of the word and that you and your team can always do better. To achieve that, you should be willing to take initiative and be able to discuss professionally and diplomatically with us and the teachers and staff at our client school to maximize the value you and your fellow teachers add to the school.

You will either live in or within easy commute of the cities of Yachiyo or Funabashi. If you do not live in those areas, you will be willing to relocate within commuting distance of the school. (The school is located in the areas near Yachiyo-Chuo Station on the Toyo Rapid Railway Line and Katsudai Station on the Keisei Line.)

Job Details

We employ those already possessing a visa which allows them to work in Japan, though we can assist in visa renewal when necessary. Applicants will have native English-level proficiency. Although not required, Japanese language skills are understood to be helpful to communicate with teachers, staff, and, when necessary, students.

The salary will be 280,000 yen + transportation expenses per month for the duration of the contract, even during summer, winter, and spring holidays.
