● Contract Type: Monthly (Full-Time)
● Level: Elementary and/or junior high schools
* Positions in Hikone, Higashiōmi and Koka cities include enrollment in Social Insurance.

>>Requirements<<
Please carefully read all requirements stated at the top of this ad. In addition, successful candidates should have good communication skills and patience, and be able to communicate effectively with students and teachers. Before applying, please be certain that you can commit to the entire length of the contract (until March 2022).

*Positions require driving in general. Candidates must hold a valid Japanese Driver's License or International Driving Permit. Candidates who do not own a vehicle can lease a company car from us.

Synonymous with beauty, Shiga Prefecture is the very heart of Japan, filled with treasures to appeal to every sense. Sitting at the eastern edge of the Kansai region, it encircles Lake Biwa, the largest freshwater lake in Japan. Our positions in the area are located in four unique and exciting cities.

Hikone City is located along the edge of Lake Biwa itself, and boasts Hikone Castle, one of four national treasure castles in Japan. There is also ready access to various cities nearby such as Nagahama City and Maibara City. There are many other scenic and historical places nearby, including Mt. Ibuki and Sekigahara. If you like being in a city with a mixture of an urban and a more traditional "Japan" feel, this could be your dream location!

Located in southeast Shiga, Higashiōmi City offers a great slice of the Shiga lifestyle. It's urban, but not too overwhelming; it's rustic, but not too remote. It's the best of both worlds! Events & sites of interest include the Yōkaichi Giant Kite Festival (held in May and Azuchi Castle Ruins. Just an hour's train ride from Kyoto, Koka City is a charming area is known for fine quality ceramics and the Minakuchi Castle, located right in the middle of the downtown area. But what Koka prides itself on being most famous for is its authentic ninja history and culture, with the Koka Ninja Village being a major tourist attraction. If you're at all interested in the history and ways of ninjutsu, Koka City might be the best place on earth to become a master of it!

Close to Koka is Konan City, a cozy little area with many shrines and temples to visit. It also offers the fast access to Shiga's capital city of Otsu as well as Kyoto. With affordable rent prices and easy train/road access to other areas, it's a charming, rustic place full of nature and history. If you like taking pictures, hiking, and exploring, you can't go wrong with Konan City!

As an ALT, you would be responsible for co-teaching with Japanese teachers, making activities and materials to facilitate English language instruction. You will also make the language “real” by interacting with students throughout the day to help them actively apply what they learn in class. The ideal candidate is flexible with their teaching style and wants to make a positive impact on the lives of the students. It’s perfect for those seeking a stable schedule and further experience in the classroom. ALTs will be provided a yearly calendar which will help manage their other commitments.
