Role Description (detailed)
To deliver fun and stimulating music classes in English following the EYS Method curriculum. The curriculum includes approaches based on the rhythmics method, hand-on experiences with many different instruments (available at the music studios) and features a wide range of music such as children’s songs, folk, classical, jazz and world music. We aim to provide a rich sensory experience to develop musical and social skills, support child development milestones, encourage self-expression and a love of music and dance!
The classes are split into the following age ranges:
6 months – 1yo (40 mins, max 4-5 children)
1-2yo (40 mins, max 4-5 children)
2-3yo (40 mins, max 4-5 children)
All children are accompanied by at least one guardian and are encouraged to take an active part in the class. There may be an opportunity to teach 3-4yo and 4-5yo classes in the future.
The curriculum for each year group has been in development since mid-2019 and shall be finished by the end of March 2020 with EYS Method class teachers receiving training through February-March 2020. We are looking for someone to takeover responsibility for the curriculum. This would involve:
Liaising with teachers to assess how the curriculum is working in practice
Updating and amending the curriculum as necessary
Providing training in the curriculum for new teachers
There may be a requirement to further develop the curriculum for 3-4yo and 4-5yo.
To work within the “Contents” team. Although work on the EYS Method music curriculum would largely be the sole responsibility of the person hired for this role, you will be supported by a team of fellow musicians working on creating content for other EYS programs and events. Participation in related ad hoc events (largely for children) may be required and the candidate would be encouraged to propose their own ideas for events and content.
