Description

Teaching mostly adult and some children, usually returnees.
Enough Japanese ability to managed student schedules in Japanese MS Outlook required. (Training provided)

Conditions
Teach 12 days a month: four Sundays plus two alternate weeks of Monday to Thursday.
Off all Fridays and Saturdays and alternate weeks of Monday to Thursday plus national holidays.
All lessons on site at our Shukugawa School.
Starting in December.

Compensation
Eight to ten 50-minute lessons a day.
Salary averaging over 250,000/month (2,450 yen/lesson)
Labour standards compliant breaks, paid holidays, travel expenses, plus optional work travel insurance.

Duties
Be friendly and professional.
Schedule, prepare and teach English lessons.
Teach trial lessons including explanation of school and system.
Our main textbook is the New Headway series but we teach any appropriate textbook a student requests including English for special purposes, as well as presentation, university/job application, Step Test and TOEFL preparation.
Some of our higher level students just want to chat about their lives, current affairs or their special interests, so a good general knowledge is important.

We are looking for some one who is settled and loves Japan. The schedule (4 Sundays and two weeks of Monday to Thursday a month) suits someone interested in steady basic income with a work-life balance that accommodates other projects e.g. university, cultural or language studies, travel, house renovation, running a small business, or other intermittent work. We look for and encourage this as far as it does not interfere with teaching commitments at Prevail. Our students value our excellent teacher retention. Over the past 20 years our teachers have stayed with us on average seven years and only left us on leaving Japan. Please do not apply if you plan to leave in the next year or so.
