2019 Full-Time English Instructor (expired)

The English Language Education Council (ELEC) is currently inviting applications for the position of Full-Time Instructor.

[Position Details and Duties]
• This is a 35 hour/week position (excluding unpaid lunch breaks).

• Although schedules and locations will be kept as consistent as possible, there may be cases where teaching time and/or location changes are necessary, for example, with short-term intensive courses or emergency substitutions.

• Teaching may take place either at ELEC’s offices (central Tokyo) or at client locations. (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama)

• Teachers may be required to perform or assist with non-teaching, academically oriented tasks such as the creation of course plans, lesson plans, or materials.

• Teachers may be required to perform or assist with administrative tasks, for example, inputting student self-evaluation responses.


[Position Requirements]
• Candidates should have experience teaching students of different proficiency levels and in various contexts, for example, business English at the pre-intermediate level, exam preparation at the upper-intermediate level, university credit courses at the beginner level, etc.

• Candidates should have a track record of reliability and professionalism in the areas of teaching ability, punctuality, and management of non-teaching duties, such as the submission of reports and replies to information requests.

• Candidates must hold at minimum an initial ELT teaching certification (e.g., CertTESOL, CELTA, equivalent 120-hour program or higher)


[In addition to the above requirements]
• Strong preference will be given to candidates holding MA TESOL or MA Applied Linguistics qualifications.

• Preference will be given to candidates possessing Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N3 or above).

[Additional Information]
• This position is based on a one-year, renewable contract.

• The start date of this position is scheduled for April 1st, 2019.

• The salary will be 300,000 to 350,000 yen per month (depending on experience and qualifications.).

• An allotment of 12 paid holidays will be given in the first year.

• This position includes enrollment in the social insurance system (both health and pension).

• Reimbursement for transportation costs is provided.
