About Tokyo Academics - Tokyo Coding Club:

Tokyo Academics (Tokyo Coding Club) is the passion project of a constellation of teachers, researchers, and academics from around the world. Since 2012, we’ve evolved from a few university friends to a growing number of part-time and full-time individuals located in Tokyo, as well as working remotely. We are an organization of experts deeply passionate about helping students meet their potential and capture the opportunities of the future.

Tokyo Coding Club (TCC) is the tech division within Tokyo Academics and we are a year-round after school & weekend programming, robotics and digital arts learning center which serves students of ages 7 to 18 here in Tokyo and also around the world through our remote lessons.Through our one on one tutoring lessons and group classes that are tailored for each individual student, we help to expand our students’ potential in the digital age by equipping them with the knowledge, skills and mindset needed to succeed in today’s world.


What you will work on:

Teaching students 1-on-1, either in person or online
Creating academic plans and lessons tailored for your students needs
Producing lesson reports for consumption by students’ guardians


Job Responsibilities:

-Programming & Robotics:
1) Teach students programming using learning platforms catered to students age 7-18 years old.
2) Guide elementary, middle and high school students to learn and develop positive attitudes with a high level of motivation in tech areas such as programming & robotics.
3) Japanese language ability, experience with Unity, and experience with Scratch a plus!

-Digital Creatives:
1) Guide elementary, middle and high school students to develop an interest in creative expression in the field of digital arts (animations and video production).
2) Teach a variety of digital software that will enhance the creativity and imagination of students as the principles of art are introduced.


Basic requirements:

Either a degree or at least 2 years experience in a related field
Currently in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree or higher
Teaching experience either at a school, a learning center, cram school, programming school or another educational institution for at least 1 year
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with colleagues and clients
Willing to commute to our office or schools in Tokyo to teach (remote teaching positions are also available)
You love learning and are not afraid to jump into new areas of development
Current students (Bachelors, Masters or PhD) are encouraged to apply
Working professionals and graduate students are encouraged to apply as well


Preferred qualifications:

At least 3+ years of relevant teaching experience
Currently working at a reputable technology company or digital arts agency
