English Teacher (IB & GrapeSEED curriculum) (expired)

We are currently have about 40 teachers, 30 out of which are Japanese and 10 are English teachers. We work well as a team and as such we expect you to be a good team player as well. You should be an open-minded person, flexible, eager to learn and of course love to work with children. Your schedule follows the national school calendar; thus, you will have time off during summer, winter and spring holidays and some national holidays depending on schedule.

Angel Kindergarten is an authorized International Baccalaureate World School implementing the IB Primary Years Programme. You are not required to have IB experience, but it is preferable. You will be required to attend workshops, and learn about the IB framework. You can read more about IB online.

You will collaborate with the Japanese teachers to support the students in their inquiry of trans-disciplinary areas and ideas. The collaboration includes meetings with your assigned grade year teachers, and planning and execution of activities during day care hours. It is preferable if you have conversational level Japanese, but it is not a requirement as we have bilingual staff to support. You will teach students that are between three and five years old.

For our extra-curricular English program we are currently using the GrapeSEED curriculum. You will have to attend a workshop and/or training to get the GrapeSEED teaching license to teach. You will also do on-the-job training. You will teach students between four and 11 years old. As an extra-curricular English program teacher, you will be responsible for one elementary school year grade. You will also teach kindergarten students, but not be responsible for the entire grade.

You will be required to work with both the IB framework and the extra-curricular program.

Ages: Four to five (K4 and K5)
Lesson time: Three classes per day, every weekday, 40 mins each.

Lesson time: Two classes per day, every weekday, 50 mins each
