Karugamo English School is an English immersion preschool for children aged 3-6 located in Saitama City. Our mission is to use English education to help children develop into life-long learners and internationally minded global citizens.

We are a small school but are constantly growing and striving to improve. Our current teachers have been with us for many years. We hope to find a candidate who can work well with a close-knit team of experienced professionals and also bring new ideas, energy, and a fresh perspective starting from April 2021.

As an IB PYP candidate school, we offer internationally recognized professional development opportunities. Successful candidates will find an exciting chance to become an integral part of our team as we collaboratively plan the use of a new curriculum and work to bring our school up to the standards set for IB World Schools.


Responsibilities

• Act as a homeroom teacher for a group of up to 24 students. Age groups for the class will be 3-4, 4-5, or 5-6. Native English teachers work with a Japanese partner homeroom teacher.

• Maintain positive relationships with students and parents.

• Plan daily lessons and activities for your class including following a phonics curriculum and developing full units for inquiry-based learning.

• Participate in and plan for school events including, sports day, recitals, field trips and parties.

• Teachers work Monday-Friday, 8 working hours plus a 1 hour break.


Qualifications/Requirements

• Applicants must be a native English speaker or have proficiency in English equal to that of a native speaker.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required. Qualifications in the fields of early childhood education or language learning are preferred.

• Teaching experience in an Early years setting is preferred.

• Must live in Japan and be willing to relocate to the Saitama area.


Benefits

• Starting salary is from 330,000 per month. Negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
