Let’s make children love English together! Starting November 16th, 2020, you can be a start of something amazing as Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Uki City, Kumamoto Prefecture!
Must be able to drive or obtain International driver’s license due to remoteness. We can provide you with a rental car if needed!

About Uki City:
Uki city is located right in the center of Kumamoto prefecture in the Kyushu area of Western Japan. It is easily accessible by train, and 2 hours away from Fukuoka by car. The population is nearly 60 thousand people. Uki city is surrounded by mountains and the sea. There is a World Heritage site of Triangle West port which was established at Meiji era (1887). The quiet port town is full of historical buildings and reminiscent of ancient mystery. There are some famous hot springs as well. A neighboring city to the East, Misato provides natural outdoor activities within the mountains. To the north, Uto City holds the Taiko Drum Collection House filled with the tradition of Taiko. You will find many great views and things around Uki city!

About the position:
The placement will be in elementary schools in Uki city, Kumamoto Prefecture where the ALT will assist as a team teacher and help plan English lessons under a schedule created by GLAD and the Board of Education. As well as teaching English lessons, you may also be asked to participate in other school activities such as clubs, cleaning the school, cultural festivals and help students for speech contest.

Contract term:
November 16th, 2020 – March 31st, 2021

Benefits
・Transportation costs will be covered at a certain rate per month (car and travel expenses included)
・Days off include weekends, national holidays, and other holidays set on the Board of Education's school calendar
・Ongoing and continuous support (training and advice)

Conditions
・Monthly base compensation: From ¥230,000 per month (It will be decided after some interviews)
・Working hours: Monday through Friday
From 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM (±5 minutes depending on school), 45 minutes break within this time
・Placement: 2 Elementary schools in Uki city

Qualification
・Excellent English skill
・Holder of a university Bachelor's degree (or higher)
・Holder of a valid visa status that allows work in Japan (visa sponsorship/renewal available)
・Holder of a Japanese driver's license or international driving permit
・Able to speak conversational Japanese: communication is crucial for planning and creating lessons with Japanese teachers of English. We also highly suggest that teachers be able to be involved with the communities here.
