Educational Network Inc. (E-Staff Tokyo) seeks educators to be placed as Language Teachers (ALTs) in schools across the Kanto area. Applicants for the available positions should be enthusiastic about teaching the English language to Japanese high school students and should have a desire to help them learn about the culture, customs and other points of interest of other countries.
The current available opening is for a HEAD ENGLISH TEACHER position at a high school in central Tokyo. This position requires teaching and human resource management experience in addition to curriculum development ability, presentation skills and Japanese language (JLPT N1) accreditation.
The position involves:
- Teaching
- Responsibility for all aspects of curriculum development
- Management of other English language educators
- Student evaluation and grade giving.
- Attending school events ranging from culture festivals to open campus student recruitment days
- Making presentations in Japanese to parents of prospective students at school open days.
- Helping to provide the students with an opportunity to expand their knowledge of other countries and think on a global scale.
The current available position is as follows:
- Position: Full time HEAD ENGLISH TEACHER at a high school in central Tokyo
- Working term: From April 1st, 2020 to March 31st, 2021 (Yearly contract renewal possible)
- In order to prepare for a smooth start to the contract period the school would like the person awarded the position to attend a weekly (paid) meeting at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year.
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday and possibly Saturdays
- Breaks: In accordance with statutory allowances
Financial Compensation will be paid on a monthly basis and all transportation expenses between the teacher's place of residence and the school will be reimbursed. The position also includes Social Health Insurance and Employment Insurance coverage.
Position Requirements:
-Must be a native speaker of English.
-Must have completed a university Bachelor’s Degree and preferably in Education.
-Must be currently residing in Japan and have a valid visa status that allows you to live and work in Japan.
-Must be able to work confidently within a Japanese work environment with tact, flexibility and
understanding.
-Must be able to use honorific Japanese language and understand non-verbal Japanese cultural nuances.
-Must have at least three years of English teaching experience at junior-high school, senior-high school or university in Japan.
-Must have experience of supervising/managing non-Japanese employees.
-Must have an excellent overall level of Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent)
