Borderlink is currently seeking Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) for elementary and junior high school positions in the historic city of Aizuwakamatsu in Fukushima prefecture, starting in early April. These positions provide experience working at both elementary and junior high school levels, and are perfect for those seeking some variety in their teaching careers. ALTs will be provided a yearly calendar which will help manage their other commitments.

As an ALT, you would be responsible for co-teaching with Japanese teachers, making activities and materials to facilitate English language instruction. You will also make the language "real" by interacting with students throughout the day to help them actively apply what they learn in class. The ideal candidate is flexible with their teaching style and wants to make a positive impact on the lives of the students.

Location: Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima
Start Date: April 2019
Level: Elementary and Junior High schools
Working Hours: Between 8:00 - 16:30
Requirements:
-Bachelor's Degree or above
-Native English speaker or equivalent level
-Conversational Japanese level or higher
-Driver's license (Japanese or International)

--About Aizuwakamatsu--

Bordered to the east by the great Lake Inawashiro, the city of Aizuwakamatsu is located in central Fukushima and offers a treasure trove of historical and cultural sites of interest. Once the site of the famous Battle of Aizu, the city features a castle (Tsuruga-Jo) with grounds dating back to the 14th century. Other things to see include the Oyaku-en medicinal herb gardens, two hot spring resorts, numerous samurai-era locales, and many annual festivals including the Aizu Festival and Sakura Festival. A local commercial center, Aizuwakamatsu is the headquarters of many local television networks in Fukushima, and the city is famous for its sake brewing and lacquerware. Those living in Aizuwakamatsu will also want to sample the local cuisine, including the city's own soba noodles and sauce-katsudon. For an exciting mix of urban comfort and rural charm, Aizuwakamatsu is the place to be!
