Description

Thank you for your interest in working for Project Genius, a concern of Korakuen English Centre. We aim to be the premier English language consultancy firm for private secondary schools in Japan.

Our client school for this position is a prestigious, highly competitive private school located in Chiba. Our client regularly places students at elite universities. Our client school is not interested in building student motivation to use English through "fun and games” but providing students the tools needed to pass college entrance exams as well as use English effectively in an international, academic setting. The students are motivated and have high expectations for their teachers as well.

Our instructors at this client school will be provided a monthly salary in the low- to mid- 300,000-yen range. The exact salary will reflect how closely the candidate’s experience matches the needs of the client school. In addition, we pay all our instructors their full monthly salary every month, even during the summer, winter, and spring holidays when our teachers are not required to be on site. Of course, transportation expenses are fully reimbursed, as well. Finally, our experienced executive team is always available to our instructors to provide constructive advice and feedback. We will also provide access to our unique online database of lessons.

Our ideal candidate will be an instructor who:

-- has experience teaching at a Japanese secondary school.

-- currently lives within a reasonable door-to-door commuting distance to the school campus. This means we will prioritize candidates who live near Ichikawa, Motoyawata, and Nishi-Funabashi.

-- has a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution as well as a TESOL qualification.

-- wants to work a full time Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday, yet be able to have paid summer, winter, and spring holidays off.

-- has native English-level proficiency.

-- is also willing and able to be a team player in order to work within the established curriculum, but also can take the initiative when needed.

-- can plan high level classes that will prepare students for university entrance and English proficiency exams for institutions in Japan as well as abroad.

-- plan and teach lessons on academic presentation skills.

-- has experience dealing with the unique challenges of teaching returnee students.

-- is flexible in working with the staff and teachers at our client school as well as with our off-site office and executive team while keeping a positive mindset.

We will contact selected applicants for interviews as we receive their applications. We will conduct interviews until we place candidates at our client school. Please indicate in your cover letter how you will meet the above described needs of the position. We look forward to receiving your application.
