Description

These openings are for positions as a Full-Time Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Misaki Town in Okayama.

About Misaki:

Misaki Town is located in the center of Okayama Prefecture in the Chugoku region of Japan. A serene, peaceful and traditional agricultural town with a population of approximately 14,000 people. The community here is very tight and people are friendly to outsiders. Surrounded by mountains, rivers and forests, Misaki Town is an untouched area of natural beauty perfect for a country boy or girl that loves the outdoors.

For many years Misaki Town and Thames in New Zealand have shared a sister-city relationship conducting student and cultural exchanges. The most recent being students from Thames visiting Misaki in 2017.

The placement will be in Elementary and Junior High Schools, where the ALT will assist as a team teacher and help plan English lessons under a schedule created by NPO GLAD and the Board of Education. As well as teaching English lessons, you may also be asked to participate in other school activities such as clubs, cleaning of the school and cultural festivals.

Contract start date:
April 2018 (1-year long contract)

Selected candidates must be living in or be able to relocate to Japan at their own expense. Visa Sponsorship available

Position Requirements:
・Must be currently living in Japan or have immediate plans to relocate to Japan
・Must be a native speaker of English, or have acquired an education in English for at least 12 years
・Must have completed a University Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in English speaking countries
・Must have a strong interest in Japanese culture and language and be able to connect with Japanese people
・Must have Japanese/International Drivers License

Preferred:
・Conversational Japanese skill
・English teaching experience at Elementary school, Junior High school, High School, or Kindergarten

Conditions:
・Monthly salary is 240,000 ~ 260,000 Japanese yen per month (depending on experience, location, and contract)
・Monday to Friday. between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
・Transportation costs will be covered at a certain rate per day
・Days off include weekends, National Holidays, and other holidays set on the Board of Education's school calendar.
