Description

POSITION: Flextime English Instructor mainly for adults

English School EEMSS is a small, privately owned English conversation school for students of all ages located in Mishima, a mid-sized city in the Eastern part of Shizuoka prefecture. EEMSS has been a successful school since its opening, which enjoys an excellent reputation in the local community. The working atmosphere could best be described as professional, friendly, and supportive. Surrounded by beautiful nature of Fuji-Hakone and Izu area, and a fully supportive employer and staff, job satisfaction is guaranteed.

We are now looking for a motivated and experienced English instructor for all ages (mainly for adults) starting in AUGUST or in SEPTEMBER. Successful applicants must have native English fluency and be open-minded to cultural differences. TESOL/TEFL/CELTA Certificate is a plus, but not necessary. Japanese language ability is helpful.

REMUNERATION:
First Year: 3,540,000 yen/year【270,000 yen/month plus 300,000 yen contract completion bonus】

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
-Must be a native English speaker with at least two years’ experience in the field of ESL/EFL
-Must have a professional attitude and knowledge of teaching English as a second language
-Must have a Bachelor’s Degree
-Must have a valid working visa
-Must currently reside in Japan

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is a 5 day(Tue-Sat) a week, 8 hours a day flexible work time position. Sundays and Mondays off plus a generous seven weeks of paid holidays each year. There are three working Sundays each year for annual school events. There are approximately 23 teaching hours per week. The class sizes are a maximum of 6 students. Lots of teaching materials such as flash cards, games, textbooks are supplied to teachers. Our classrooms are equipped with a large screen TV and a computer for utilization of online materials, audio and visual materials, Power Point and the like. Our teachers are given the professional autonomy to be creative in line with the school’s teaching policy. We provide paid orientation/training sessions for new teachers.

EEMSS offers a one-year renewable contract, but we anticipate an initial two-year commitment. If you find the first year to meet your career goals and we agree on an extension, then your contract will be renewed with a 10,000 yen/month raise. You are also eligible for a contract completion bonus of 300,000 yen each year.

ACCOMODATION SUPPORT:
If you need to relocate for the position, we can help you find and rent an apartment. We also offer a relocation allowance of 100,000 yen to help you cover miscellaneous expenses such as key money, deposit, and so forth.

We ask for your understanding that only eligible candidates will be contacted. Our school is a 15 min. walk or 5 min. bus ride from JR Mishima station and a 50 min. Shinkansen ride from Tokyo.


Mishima is a base town for popular tourist destinations such as Izu, Hakone, and Mt. Fuji. Its exciting summer festival draws about 500,000 visitors during a three-day period every year, which is nearly five times the city’s population. EEMSS is on the top floor of a three-story building and the view of Mt. Fuji from our school is breathtaking. Living and working in the Eastern part of Shizuoka will give you unforgettable lifetime experiences.
