ABOUT US
EFL Club has been teaching English to children of Sapporo for 24 years. For many of these students, our lessons are the only real exposure they have to English, so we are dedicated to providing them with a quality education. Many of our students stay at the school for 10 years or longer, and a significant number of them go on to achieve a high level of English ability.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Our teaching department consists of 9 full-time teachers under the direction of our Senior Teachers, who will ensure that the successful candidate is given the appropriate amount of training and assistance to reach their full potential.

Teachers are responsible for planning and running their classes and for providing feedback on student progress and curriculum. A maximum of 26 class hours is maintained to ensure that teachers have sufficient time to achieve these goals.

The position currently on offer covers the following courses: Preschool Course (play curriculum; ages 3-6), Foundation Course (grammar-based curriculum; ages 6-12), Extension Course (CLIL-based curriculum; ages 6-12) and Power Course (literacy-building curriculum; ages 6-18). Specific skills for this position are the ability to sing in tune (Preschool Course) and IT and organisational skills (Power Course).

The initial salary of ¥240,000 increases to ¥250,000 from the 4th month of employment. Subsequent salary raises are based on job performance. Transportation allowance and health insurance subsidy are paid in addition to salary.

The work week is Tuesday to Saturday, from 11am until 8pm mid-week and 7pm on Saturdays. There are 4 weeks paid holidays - 1 week each in summer and spring and 2 weeks in winter. In addition, 2 weeks each year are designated as student free weeks, during which the teaching staff engages in professional development activities, personal projects and school events.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates for consideration must meet the following criteria:

1) Be a native speaker of English. ”Native speaker” means that you spoke English as a child at home and/or in the community and at school.

2) Speak clearly and demonstrate a good command of grammar, spelling and punctuation.

3) Be IT literate and possess good time-, task- and resource-management skills.

4) Be able to sing in tune, or be willing to work hard to achieve an acceptable level of singing.

5) Possess strong communication and teamwork skills. The teaching and student liaison departments work closely to ensure successful outcomes for the students, and all staff are expected to engage proactively in this process.

6) Be able to commit to the contracted period (renewable) ending March 2022.

7) Be able to commence work from Aug 18th, although there is some flexibility with this date.

8) Possess an appropriate visa allowing full-time work, or hold a Bachelor’s degree in any field in order to meet the Immigration Department’s criteria for work visa sponsorship.
