Description

ALTIA CENTRAL is accepting applications from in-country candidates to join our team of fantastic ALTs for Gifu City and other locations across Gifu Prefecture from April, 2020. If you would like to work with one of the most reputable and successful companies in the ALT industry, then please apply now.

We will once again be conducting 1-on-1 interviews in various cities across Japan on several upcoming weekends. We also interview on an ongoing basis in our head office in Nagoya, our branch office in Osaka, and we frequently travel to other cities such as Tokyo, Shizuoka, Okayama, and Hiroshima for weekend interviews.

Gifu City is located in the center of Japan and about 30 minutes from Nagoya on the regular trains. It is an urban/suburban city of more than 400,000 people with a rich history and filled with natural beauty. These are predominantly mixed positions, with most ALTs spending the bulk of the time at JHS and then 1 or 2 days at nearby elementary schools. Unlike many other locations, driving is not required in Gifu City so it's a preferred placement for non-drivers who are OK walking, riding, or taking public transportation to school.

In addition to Gifu City, we are also looking for ALTs in other areas of Gifu such as Ogaki, Mizuho, Kasamatsu, Nakatsugawa, Ikeda, Ibigawa, Mitake, Kani, Mizunami, and Tajimi in which we currently have contracts.

Our ideal applicant is a native English speaker with a bachelor's degree (or higher) who is flexible, culturally sensitive, and motivated to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for students.

We would also prefer applicants who have previously spent some time studying or working in Japan, and as many ALT positions do require driving, we prefer people who can or would be able to drive in Japan.

ALTs work in public schools assisting Japanese teachers, helping to provide enjoyable and energetic lessons, and interacting with the students both inside and outside the classroom. Working as an ALT is a great opportunity to improve your Japanese language ability through cooperation with Japanese staff, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly, to be positively involved with the development and well-being of young children.

ALTIA CENTRAL enjoys an excellent reputation, positive relationships with Boards of Education, and is respected by the English teaching community in Japan. We operate mostly in the Chubu area, especially Aichi, Gifu, Mie, and Shizuoka prefectures, areas further west such as Shiga, Okayama, and Hiroshima, along with a number of contracts in the Kansai area as well.

Our highly experienced native-English speaking supervisors offer a stable, reliable and extremely professional support system. We also provide excellent teacher training, a wide array of top-quality educational resources and a comprehensive benefits package including generously paid vacation periods.

Successful applicants will need to be available for a full 4-day Orientation/Training session in late March before starting in school from April 1st, 2020. If you are interested in applying and have the work ethic and enthusiasm to represent our values while making a real difference in Japan's public schools, please visit our Recruiting website for further details about ALTIA CENTRAL.
