Interested in teaching in one of the most beautiful cities in all of Japan? Then we have an opportunity for you!
Borderlink is currently seeking Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) for elementary and junior high school positions in the iconic city of Hikone in Shiga prefecture, starting in early April. Borderlink can support you with finding an apartment in the area, as well as provide visa sponsorship (where applicable). ALTs will be provided a yearly calendar which will help manage their other commitments.
As an ALT, you would be responsible for co-teaching with Japanese teachers, making activities and materials to facilitate English language instruction. You will also make the language "real" by interacting with students throughout the day to help them actively apply what they learn in class. The ideal candidate is flexible with their teaching style and wants to make a positive impact on the lives of the students.
Location: Hikone City, Shiga
Start Date: April 4th, 2019
Level: Elementary or Junior High school
Working Hours: Between 8:00 - 16:20
Salary range: Monthly wage ranging from 220,000 yen to 240,000 yen
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or above and English teaching experience
Benefits: Social Insurance [health insurance and pension]
Hikone is a cozy city full of culture and history situated on the edge of Lake Biwa, Japan's largest freshwater lake. It is home to the famous Hikone castle, one of the very few Japanese castles designated as national treasures. There's plenty to explore around the city, while nearby sites of interest in the surrounding area include Mt. Ibuki and Sekigahara. Those with an interest in Japanese history will love working in Hikone. Furthermore, travelers keen to see other parts of Japan will find it a convenient home base, as there is ready access to nearby cities such as Nagahama and Maibara. A weekend trip to Osaka/Kyoto to the west or Nagoya to the east is a realistic (and affordable) reality for those living in Hikone.
Borderlink is well-known and respected among schools and boards of education. We provide a level of training and after-placement support unparalleled among ALT companies, including relocation assistance and visa sponsorship. Recently we've been expanding, and are looking to create a strong roster of ALTs across the Kansai area. We're ready to believe in your possibility, and help you realize your potential as a teacher. Many in our management team began as ALTs or teachers themselves, and over the years accumulated the knowledge and skills to pass on to others. At Borderlink, there's always room for growth, both as individuals and as a team.
