Job Description: Head Teacher, Curriculum Development & Integration Coordinator for Primary school
With a foundation in STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics,
our Primary School curriculum aims to encourage students to become innovative, critical thinkers.
Start Date September 1st, 2018
Overview For the right candidate, this position can act as a gateway to greater responsibility within the Laurus International School of Science located at 3-4-17 Shirokanedai, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
The successful applicant will:
1. Be an innovative leader with a firm belief that students learn through experimentation in a safe, questioning hands-on environment
2. Be up-to-date on STEM approaches to learning
3. Be well organised in creating, storing and sharing all planning and documentation including lesson plans (both short and long term) with strategies for differentiation using a variety of assessment styles for both formative and summative assessments
4. Be an enthusiastic and cheerful person who loves working with children
5. Have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Upon achieving familiarity with the school’s curriculum and resources as they stand (more on this below) the successful applicant will demonstrate:
1. Capacity to develop the curriculum further and be in charge of school accreditation.
2. Leadership in coaching/training faculty to integrate STEM facets into their planning where authentic connections are evident
3. Begin and oversee the creation and development of a MakerSpace learning environment
We are looking for a proven classroom teacher. We want someone eager to continually learn and become a strong resource in the developing world of STEM education. We are the only STEM International school in Japan.
