Requirements

  • English: Native level (preferred)
  • Must currently reside in Japan
  • English language teaching certification, e.g. TESL/CELTA/DELTA
  • Minimum of four years experience of teaching English to adults and children
  • Confident computer skills; candidates with a working knowledge of gmail, Google drive, website development and website management will be at an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good knowledge and understanding of current ESOL teaching methods
  • Visa sponsorship available

Description

This is a full time, year round post working Tuesday - Saturday. Flexible working hours, including evenings, will be necessary to meet the requirements of the post.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but are not limited to:
Teach classes across all ELS programmes including the Adult Day School, Children’s Saturday School, After School Kids programme and Adult and Kids Summer Schools.
Prepare and organise teaching materials for the various ELS programmes. Create teaching materials and resource banks.
Act as the programme leader for the After School Kids programme.
Assist with maintaining and updating the ELS website and other promotional materials.
Represent the ELS at a range of marketing and promotional events.
Establish and sustain effective, positive relationships with ELS staff and students.
Present a positive image of SMIS both within and beyond the school organisation.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, & PERSONAL QUALITIES:
Native English speaker or fluent non-native speaker holding TOEIC 950 (minimum) and Step 1 certificate
English language teaching certification, e.g. TESL/CELTA/DELTA
Minimum of four years experience of teaching English to adults and children
Good knowledge and understanding of current ESOL teaching methods
Confident computer skills; candidates with a working knowledge of gmail, Google drive, website development and website management will be at an advantage.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work flexibly as a self starter and as part of a team
Ability to work well under tight time constraints
Professional appearance and strong work ethic
