Description

Tokyo Metropolitan Kokusai High School, founded in April 1989, is located in the green corner of Komabano, Tokyo. The school takes advantage of the cosmopolitan characteristics of Tokyo and sets in goal to develop well-balanced students with an international perspective. Kokusai High School seeks to mature its students and strengthen their ability to reason as well as develop a strong foreign language competency so they can become active and respected members of the world community.

To foster authentic global leaders, Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education has designated our school as the first metropolitan high school which aims to be authorized as an IB World School. Currently, Tokyo Metropolitan Kokusai High School has started the Diploma Programme.

Since April, 2015, a new academic programme for IBDP has been opened. During the first school year, that programme offers the education according to the Japanese ministry's curriculum guideline, then that programme offers the IBDP programme from next school year. The number of students per class may be up to 25 at most.

We are currently looking to hire the English teacher who will be responsible for teaching students to learn in the academic programme for IBDP with energy and competence.

POSITION DETAILS: The work week is Monday to Friday. The daily school schedule is 8:30am to 17:00pm, and the working hours are your subject classes and the designated hours by the vice principal. Working hours per week are between 15-24 and up to 29 hours with possible fluctuations above and below based on school events, vacation time and unexpected events. 1 hour means 60 minutes. If you have neither class nor designated tasks, you don’t need to work at school on that day because the monthly salary shall be calculated by working hours. Additionally, we require attending the online IB Workshop and the professional development as your working hours when the school designates.
Minimum required annual paid leave stipulated in the Labor Standards Act shall be provided.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: We are looking for a confident, dedicated, and passionate teacher. Candidates must have a university degree, teaching certificate in their own country or equivalent ability and teaching experience (ideally working with high school students in IB World School and has already completed IB workshop Category I).

LOCATION: The school is located near Komaba Todai mae Station on the Keio Inokashira line.

START DATE: The ideal start date is March 2017.

REMUNERATION: The wage will be 7,800 yen per hour. The weekly schedule will be between 15 - 24 hours and up to 29 hours with possible fluctuations above and below based on school events, vacation time and unexpected events. The school schedule will be confirmed around the end of March 2017.
Participation in the Social Insurance and Pension is required by yourself. Transportation is reimbursed according to the school regulation per month.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS: Metropolitan Kokusai High School will screen resumes to check that minimum requirements are met. Candidates will be contacted to arrange face-to-face interviews for teachers who are able to come to our school. Candidates will be asked to bring with them their residence cards or alien registration certificates, their passports and visas, copies of teachers’ licenses or any other documents that show their professional expertise, copy of diploma and letters of reference. At the interviews, candidates will be required to explain the lesson plan with using the presented teaching materials and to demonstrate a part of the lesson plan. Once that final decision has been made, we will contact all candidates to inform them of the decision. The successful candidate will make contract with Metropolitan Kokusai High School.
